HyperX has produced many high-quality gaming headsets over the years. It’s pretty safe to say that when it comes to the brand, quality is at the forefront. The design language and sound quality across their range have been nothing but top tier. With the Cloud II Wireless and the Cloud Orbit S getting high praise from tech enthusiasts, HyperX decided to launch a new headset to further expand its Cloud product line.

HyperX Cloud Revolver 7.1 Review
Continuing that tradition we got something special. Meet the HyperX Cloud Revolver 7.1, a wired gaming headset for PC and PS4 / PS5.
As I unboxed the Cloud Revolver 7.1, it continues the tried and true trope of premium packaging. It was well put together with a sleeve and once I opened the box, I noticed an extra layer of protection with a plastic cover. You get your usual support card and a quick start guide. The Headset itself was placed right in the center.
TO THE POINT REVIEW: Overall, we’ve been highly impressed with MOST of the HyperX line of products – the HyperX Cloud Revolver 7.1 headset has certainly been no exception. It’s a high-quality headset in terms of overall construction, audio quality, comfort, and more. It gets the Hangry Gamer Gear seal of approval with a 9/10 rating – HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Build Quality
The headset’s build quality is excellent with a durable steel frame. Holding it in your hand you can easily appreciate where the engineering went. The ear cups are padded well with foam, and as I tried them on, they felt very comfortable. The headset also comes with an audio mix controller with a volume rocker for game sound/chat, and a mute button for your microphone.

The audio mix controller has a 7.1 button if you choose to switch to the 7.1 surround sound mode. You can adjust the sound to your liking through both the controller and your PC to hit the sweet spot. The headset also has a 3.5mm headphone jack so you can easily connect it to a PS4, Switch, and many Smartphone devices.
One thing users will note is the actual shell of the ear cups doesn’t allow you to adjust the volume by turning it clockwise. Instead, you’ll have to use the audio mix controller. You can also easily clip the controller on your shirt.
Sound Quality
When it comes to real-world use, the Cloud Revolver 7.1 is a simple setup. The sound quality was even and tuned specifically for gaming. Playing a game like Resident Evil 2 or Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War had a rich presentation with excellent high fidelity detail.
I really appreciate the realistic treble with the simple steps and the giant explosions. The bass also adds a little rumble for that extra immersion. The headset also has a great tuning when listening to music as no one frequency overpowers the tonal balance while listening to a track.
Comfort Level
The most important aspect of any headset is comfort. I’m glad to say that the Cloud Revolver 7.1 is one of the most comfortable headsets I’ve used. I’ve used this headset for nearly a month with many long sessions while gaming and watching movies and I have to say, there were times I felt like I wasn’t even wearing them, they’re that comfortable. The padding on the headband is very plush and the suspension helps adjust the size.

General Design
Let’s talk about the design, shall we? Leather covers the main band while a steel frame holds everything together. This owes to a very slick finish. Also, the matte plastic tastefully adds creative flair to the overall design.
The headset has a detachable microphone so whenever you’re not using game chat or Discord, you can detach it and enjoy the headset for single-player games or movies. The microphone sound quality isn’t as clear as a dedicated microphone, but it’s good enough for Team Speak and Discord.
While playing a multiplayer game, my friends were able to hear me, but it’s highly recommended that you adjust the microphone volume so you don’t sound too loud. The microphone also has a noise-canceling feature, so if you’re watching TV or a video on your phone- the feature would cancel out any external noise pollution.

HyperX Cloud Revolver 7.1 Headset Review: Final Notes
Finally, the headset is also useful for non-gaming related activities. If you’re working remotely from home, the headset finds a home on deck for editing workflows and Zoom meetings.
Overall, the HyperX Cloud Revolver 7.1 headset is a well-built device and delivers when it comes to sound and comfort. The ability to use the headset during long sessions without fatigue is a testament to its amazing build quality. The 7.1 feature excels in movies and gaming and for £139.99, you’re definitely getting your money’s worth. This is an addition to the Battle Station that is essential and comes highly recommended.
